2U, Our Program Partner
Pepperdine Law has partnered with 2U Inc. to power and support Law@Pepperdine. Founded in 2008 by a team of education and technology veterans, 2U enables leading colleges and universities to deliver their high-quality degree programs online to qualified students anywhere.
In addition to Pepperdine University, 2U currently works with a number of leading US universities to support their online graduate programs, including UC Berkeley, New York University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Northwestern University, and Yale University. 2U supports graduate and doctorate programs across a range of fields, including law, business, public administration, international affairs, public health, health care administration, and data science.
As part of our partnership, 2U provides the following services:
Students enrolled in the Law@Pepperdine program access a virtual campus for their classes, course work and networking. The platform, which is available from most Internet-enabled devices, is powered by 2U. The 2U approach is best described as No Back Row®, with an online classroom unlike any other with face-to-face, live sessions. Program instruction is led by Pepperdine Law faculty and is designed with intuitive, familiar features that foster connection and collaboration.
We know many students choose an online program to take advantage of the flexibility of the platform. To make the online degree programs as convenient as possible, 2U brings the online campus to mobile devices with apps for smartphone and tablets. These apps allow students to access course work online and offline whenever it is convenient for them.
In preparation for live classes, students watch prerecorded content created by Pepperdine Law faculty in collaboration with 2U content strategists. The 2U team helps partner university faculty members turn their traditional classroom lectures and materials into engaging, interactive content that is custom-made for the online environment. 2U also provides Pepperdine Law with video production services, while the school’s faculty authors and delivers all content.
Course content is not simply recorded lectures, but an interactive learning experience. Course work includes video case studies, discussions between professors and students, dynamic faculty presentations, and interactive elements in which professors can see students’ progress through course work and leave comments and feedback leading up the live class session.
Pepperdine Law works with 2U to identify and reach the most qualified candidates around the world. 2U’s marketing and recruiting efforts support our goal of finding students who are most likely to succeed in Pepperdine Law’s online Master of Legal Studies program. 2U also provides an online application and application management system, which ensures a seamless process for applicants and for Pepperdine Law faculty and staff who review candidates. As with all Pepperdine Law degree programs, applications are reviewed and candidates receive a final admissions decision from Pepperdine Law administration.
Student and Faculty Support
2U prepares faculty to deliver classes and course materials on the online platform so they are best able to use the tools available in the virtual classroom. 2U also offers orientation to all online students before classes begin. Dedicated support continues throughout the program with technical support available during every live session.
